University of Cambridge Philharmonia

The Philharmonia, affectionately known as 'Baby', is UCPO's chamber orchestra. It allows us to tackle a wider range of music, and cater for players who may not be able to make the Wednesday evening rehearsals of the main orchestra.

Like the main orchestra, we do not audition for the Philharmonia, and players are welcome as long as we have a part for them to play... rehearsals usually take place on a series of weekends in the middle of the Michaelmas and Lent terms, followed by a concert each term. Membership is currently free to anyone who's a member of the main orchestra.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals for Michaelmas and Lent in the 2009/10 academic year will take place on Saturday afternoons at 2 p.m. at Churchill College Chapel (the chapel is at top left of the map).

If you would like to play in UCP, please contact the chair or ask a friendly committee member at an UCPO rehearsal. If there are players required, an email will usually reach the main UCPO list to gauge interest.

Meanwhile, mp3 recordings of our last concert are now online.
