The Ring and Phil Venables

World Premier by student composer, specially commissioned for WCSO in asscociation with Cambridge University New Music Society Conducted by the composer.

Philip G.Venables is a student at Cambridge university. He has had work recorded and broadcast for BBC Radio 3 (as well as being interviewed on air) and Cable television. He has written music for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, for theatre productions, for large scale Dance productions (for two years on the run), and for short films by students. He has also had work performed around Cambridge (obviously!), on local radio and by local orchestras from whom he received commissions. He also won the 1997 Performance UK Young Composer of the Year. He asked WCSO for a commission to compose "The Ring" written in 1999.
